FORWARD THROUGH FRIENDSHIP AND FAITH

At St. Matthew’s we are educating children for the future. We aspire to be a school in which students and teachers excitedly and joyfully stretch themselves to their limits in pursuit of a thirst for learning. As a Church of England school, we remain steadfast in our faith, through which we aim to rise above the ordinary by developing education, which we know can transform lives and communities. A St. Matthew’s pupil will have buzz, energy and vitality and will live up to our Christian ethos, building on our core values of integrity and trust, respect for all, individual responsibility, and partnership. Children will leave our school with high self-esteem, well equipped for the future, with the life skills and understanding of citizenship that they need and deserve. Our children will look enthusiastically towards the future and feel empowered when exploring economic awareness, leading them to be ambitious and tolerant when regarding their future lives.

We take pride in our commitment to deliver outstanding and inclusive educational provision. Every child will experience a sense of enjoyment and is encouraged to achieve through a love of learning and creative problem solving. We guarantee that our curriculum will always be constantly evolving and highly innovative, at the cutting edge of education.  Academic enrichment is valued at all stages, and the classroom focus is on challenge, engagement and achievement. Learning is celebrated in all its forms. Our students will thrive within a vibrant and stimulating environment. We strive to capture their enthusiasm, enjoyment, commitment and sense of adventure.

Inspired by our faith in Christ and together with our parents, church and community, we aim for each pupil to reach their full potential in body, mind, heart and spirit. A strong pastoral structure underpins the curriculum. Everyone in our school community deserves to be cared for unconditionally and valued equally as a unique creation, made in the image of God.

Aims:

Specifically we aim to:

  • Appoint highly skilled staff that are committed to developing a high quality, creative curriculum that is carefully sculpted and tailored to meet the needs of every individual child.
  • Enable pupils through Worship and wonder to recognise and experience God and to develop intellectually, spiritually, socially, morally and physically.
  • Achieve excellence with pupils having high expectations of themselves and those around them in all aspects of school life.
  • Ensure that student behavior and staff professionalism is at the core of the relationship between learner and teacher, building mutual respect and trust around the importance of the individual.
  • Promote trust and respect for each child, for other people, for the diversity of culture, beliefs and the environment.
  • Develop a healthy lifestyle, where children are encouraged to make informed choice.
  • Actively engage and communicate with parents and carers so that we can work in partnership, with the best interest of the child at the heart of all we do.
